BayShareOz Privacy Policy (DRAFT — have a lawyer review before publishing)
Last updated: [date]
[Business name] (ABN [number]) ("BayShareOz", "we") runs the BayShareOz app. This policy explains what personal information we collect and how we handle it, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, and mobile number if you give it.
- Location: your device location when you tap "Near me", to show bays nearby. We don't track your location in the background.
- Bay listings: address, map location, photos or notes you add, and availability.
- Verification documents (hosts): proof of address and strata documents you upload. Identity verification is done by Stripe; we receive the result, not your ID images.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We don't store card numbers. We keep booking amounts and dates.
- Usage and device data: basic technical information needed to run and fix the app.
How we use it
- To create your account, show bays, take bookings and pay hosts
- To verify hosts and keep the marketplace safe
- To handle cancellations, refunds, reports and disputes
- To meet legal, tax and record-keeping obligations
Who we share it with
- The other party to a booking: drivers see the bay address and access notes; hosts see the booking time and code.
- Service providers: Stripe (payments and ID checks), Supabase (data hosting), Anthropic (automated reading of uploaded documents), Google/Apple (maps), our email provider.
- Authorities where the law requires it.
Some providers store data outside Australia (for example in the United States). [Confirm the regions for each provider.]
Keeping and deleting your information
You can delete your account in the app (Activity → Delete my account). We delete your profile and uploaded documents. We keep booking and payment records without your name for as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see or correct your information, or complain about how we handle it, by emailing privacy@bayshareoz.com.au. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
